Team Lasalle from the McIntyre curling club are the 2016 Tim Hortons Northern Ontario Provincial Bantam boys curling champions. Lasalle defeated Team Cull from the Sudbury Curling Club by a score of 6-3 in Sunday’s final. Lasalle controlled the game with steals of singles in four ends.
Team Lasalle earned their berth by first eliminating Team Lemieux of the Community First Curling Centre by a score of 6-2 in an early morning tie-breaker and then defeating Team Vellinga from Kakabeka Falls in a tight 7-6 semi-final match.
Team Brunton from the Sudbury Curling Club are the girls champions. They defeated Team Romyn from Sioux Lookout by a score of 6-4. The first seven ends were very defensive but skip Kira Brunton threw a tricky angled raised-takeout in the eighth end for the win.
Earlier in the day Team Romyn had defeated Team Horton from the Copper Cliff 7-3 in the semi-final to move on to play the undefeated Brunton in the final.
