Multiple Arrests Made

The Sault Ste. Marie Police Service is evolving away from an incident driven/reactive to a risk driven/proactive service delivery model. Effective data analysis is a critical component of this transformation and informs enforcement and prevention strategies, effective allocation and deployment of resources.

Break & Enter Statistics:

2012: 878    2013: 607   2014: 476     2015: 415

However, in the fall of 2015, the analysis of statistical data identified an increase in both business and residential break and enters. In December, a unit consisting of two officers from Patrol Services and two officers from Investigation Services was dedicated to coordinate investigations into break and enters in Sault Ste. Marie and Prince Township and respond to the observed increase in property crimes.

To Date:

  • 15 Break and enters have been cleared by charge
  • 24 Individuals have been charged and have scheduled court appearances.
  • 127 Criminal charges have been laid
  • $7,775 in stolen property has been recovered
  • $ 5,260 in narcotics have been seized

“The investigation of break and enters and identification of those responsible is, and will always be a priority for the Sault Ste. Marie Police Service. I am extremely proud of these results and commend the efforts of all staff responsible” Chief Robert Keetch Sault Ste. Marie Police Service

The Sault Ste. Mare Police Service would like to acknowledge the contribution and teamwork provided by the Crime Unit of the Ontario Provincial Police Sault Ste. Marie Detachment, the Batchewana First Nation Police and Anishinabek Police Service during the course of this initiative.

  1. Wow! It used to be the young kids or older teenagers of l8+ and 20 somethings that were mostly in trouble, but as I read this, my eyes were opened widely! What a shock and reality check for me, not to mention it’s a real shame. I’m glad they post the names. They don’t often do that in our city for whatever reason. I sure would want to know in case I was to hire one or them for work around my house etc….

  2. all these people and at these ages. I’m sure there was more that they sold or whatevr but all this for peanuts.
Its a testament to our will to live, to be so low and still not want to end it.
