Sault man arrested in Child Porn investigation

In December of 2015 officers from the Technological Crime Unit commenced an investigation involving persons making child pornography available on the internet.

During the investigation a quantity of child pornography was identified as being shared from an address in Sault Ste. Marie.

On the 4th of February 2016 officers from the Sault Ste. Marie Technological Crime Unit, assisted by officers from the Emergency Services Unit, executed a search warrant at a residence on Pine Street in relation to this investigation. Officers seized computers at the residence and took one male into custody.

26-year old James Patterson of Pine Street has been charged with one count of possession of child pornography and one count of make child pornography available. The accused was been remanded to bail court to February 5th.

The Sault Ste. Marie Police Service is a member of the Provincial Strategy to Protect Children from Sexual Abuse and Exploitation on the internet.
