You are invited to participate in Tater Fest, Sault Ste. Marie’s first ever potato festival in support of ARCH Hospice. The event is happening Thursday, March 31st at the Canadian Bushplane Heritage Centre from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. and from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m.

Tater Fest is welcoming food vendors from Sault Ste. Marie and area to showcase their potato making abilities. To ensure the success of this event we are asking your organization to hand out samples to event guests however you please. French fries, hash browns, perogies, potato soup, poutine, potato skins, baked potato or any other form of potato dish you wish to provide is welcomed. There is no vendor fee to participate. We encourage you to get creative with your potato products, as there will be prizes awarded.

The following awards will be given out to vendors:
– Best Tasting French Fry
– Most Creative Potato Dish
– Best Potato/French Fry Topping
– People’s Choice Award

All proceeds from this event will go towards ARCH Hospice. ARCH provides quality, compassionate end-of-life care for local residents and their loved ones. Students from the Public Relations and Event Management program at Sault College will be heading this inaugural event that hopes to attract members of the community in support of a great cause. This is an excellent opportunity for your restaurant or organization to promote its products and receive recognition for making a positive contribution to the community.

Natasha Colak, Public Relations and Event Management Professor lost her Grandfather; Peter Colak to cancer this past September. Peter spent his last few days at ARCH Hospice where he was well taken care of by the kind and dedicated staff. When Colak pitched the idea to her students they were very excited to give back to ARCH and the community of Sault Ste. Marie. The students have shown a remarkable amount of compassion and dedication to the organization as many of their passed loved ones had spent their last moments at the hospice.
If your restaurant wishes to participate and secure a booth at Tater Fest please contact Kayla Primm at (416) 627-1016 or Natalie Yuen (705) 257-9439 before March 1st, 2016. Any questions you may have can also be directed at Kayla.
We hope to have you out at this fun and exciting event to benefit ARCH.

  1. Gotta find a recipe for deep fried tater balls… They are probably tiny cholesterol bombs but they look ssoooooo good….:).

  2. Hey, here’s an idea… Why not do this again this summer when the Tall Ships are here as an additional thing for tourists to participate in…….OH…Wait, the Tall Ships aren’t coming due to the shortsightedness of our council… Oh well, best of luck with it anyway…
