Three Concerts to Get You Through to Spring

Looking for a bit of a pick up during the late days of winter? The Richards Landing Arts and Events Committee, together with the St. Joseph Island Coffee Roasters and AlgomaTrad, are bringing three concerts to the Richards Landing Town Hall to help you through.

CraigStockOn Friday February 19th, acclaimed singer-songwriter Craig Cardiff visit’s Richards Landing’s “Just Passin’ Through” Concert Series for the first time. This Arnprior-based folk-singer is touring with his latest album, Love Is Louder (Than All This Noise).

Described as one-part boisterous group sing-along, one-part gentle lullaby, the 21 tracks on Love is Louder are connected by an underlying sense that there are better days to come. “Every song has that kernel of hope and joy, even if it’s not apparent at first,” says Cardiff.
Craig Cardiff is a past Juno nominee for Roots and Traditional Album of the Year: Solo, and a past Canadian Folk Music Award nominee for Contemporary Singer of the Year.

david-fFriday March 11th will see the return to Richards Landing of crowd favourite, David Francey. Accompanied by wonderful musicians, Mark Westberg, Chris Coole and Darren McMullen, Francey will be making his third visit to St. Joseph Island.

Born in Scotland and later emigrating to Canada, Francey worked for decades he worked as a manual labourer, all the while writing poetry, setting them to melodies and singing them as he worked.

At the age of 45, he began his journey to become an award-winning folk troubadour. Francey is now a three-time Juno Award winner with a loyal following around the world. His new album is Empty Train.

TheYoungNovelists_webSaturday March 26th will see another newcomer to the “Just Passin’ Through” stage. The Young Novelists were honoured in 2015 with a nomination from the Canadian Folk Music Awards (CFMAs) for Vocal Group of the Year and winning the CFMAs’ 2015 New/Emerging Artist of the Year. In addition, frontman Graydon James was awarded the Ontario Arts Council’s Colleen Peterson Songwriting Award. This Toronto-based roots-rock group will be touring with their new album, made us strangers.

Tickets for Craig Cardiff are $15.00 in advance, $20.00 at the door; David Francey tickets are $30.00 in advance, $35.00 at the door; The Young Novelists tickets are $10.00 at the door.
