5 Sault players in the NHL: progress

There are currently five players from the Sault and Garden River in the NHL that should be on your radar as the playoffs approach.

Most notably being Jordan Nolan (26) from Garden River who has the best shot at the cup.

He’s posted five assists in his 52 games so far this season. He is approaching his 250th game of his career and his Los Angeles Kings are doing quite well this season. They are second in the pacific division with 95 points, one point behind the Anaheim Ducks.

Nolan has given up 38 penalty minutes this season but has had 49 shots on net.

Next up is well-known Tyler Kennedy (29) who has had a good season with the New Jersey Devils, making 3 goals and 11 assists in 43 games so far. The center-man has over 500 games under his belt and over 200 points.

The Devils sit well-behind the wild card slot with 82 points and will have a hard time making the playoffs this year.

Colin Miller (23) has had an excellent year this year playing in 39 games and getting 3 goals and 12 assists. This 6’1″ defenseman looks like he is on his way to the playoffs with his Boston Bruins who sit third in the Atlantic Division with 88 points.

Next up is Chris Thorburn (32) of the Winnipeg Jets. Thornburn has amassed close to 700 games in the NHL while playing every game this year.

The right-winger has made 5 goals and six assists but 79 penalty minutes for a team that sits around first for penalties.

Last but not least is Matthew O’Connor who has had his first start as goalie this season with the Ottawa Senators. The Senators are currently fighting to get in the wild card slot with the Montreal Canadians, as the only two teams that have a chance of making the playoffs for Canada this year.
