Fickle Weather, Dedicated Riders

It was a beautiful day for the 41st running of Snowarama on Saturday February 27th.
“After watching not a flake of snow come down, warm weather and sunshine for almost two weeks and a four week delay of the event waiting for some snow and cold, I was feeling a bit depressed about the expectation of participants Snowarama this year.” Shared Snowarama Co-Chair Landon Odom, but he was in for a pleasant surprise!

“After all the worrying and nail biting was over we had 88 dedicated sledders come out and they raised $27.730 for Easter Seals. We had a fantastic ride and a great time was had by all.”

Two more riders

The Snowarama committee was blown away by the Sault Trailblazers’ beautifully groomed trails.

“I cannot compliment the Soo Trailblazers highly enough for their efforts to make this another great ride,” said Odom. His Co-Chair Bob Carricato echoed his sentiments: “Thank you to Sault Trailblazers Snowmobile Club for the special grooming and caring of the trails given the limited amount of snow that we have had. Because of their efforts, families, children, grandparents, and single riders thoroughly enjoyed the fun-filled day.”

The Snowarama committee would like to extend their heartfelt thanks to this year’s sponsors: Sault Trailblazers Snowmobile Club, Dawson & Keenan Insurance, McDougall Energy, Rogers Media, Construction Equipment Co., Christie’s RV, Dynatype, Joe’s Sports & Surplus, Martin’s Trailers, Northshore Ski-Doo, Premier Yamaha, Rivercity Motorsports, and Woody’s Wheels.

This year’s top fundraiser was Allan Shields, who raised $1,415.00.

Easter Seals Ontario began in 1922 as a vision to create a better life for children and youth with physical disabilities. Programs include financial assistance to help families purchase costly mobility equipment such as wheelchairs, walkers, and communication devices, as well as fully accessible summer camp, and information resources for parents and caregivers.

Ben thanks Riders

Easter Seals programs and services are funded almost entirely through donations by individuals, sponsors and foundations. Thanks to our generous donors, we continue to offer programs that allow kids to experience freedom, independence and a sense of accomplishment.
