Knights Crowned NOSSA AAA Champs

The St. Mary’s Knights didn’t hold back either defensively and
offensively. The Confederation Chargers from Hanmer were hampered by
a strong defense which precluded the Chargers from getting any real
good scoring chances.

At the start of the day both teams were undefeated but in the round
robin playoffs the Knights took down the Chargers by a score of 10 to
1. Austin Rowe would count for 4 goals, Jakob Porco would net 2, and
singles would go to Marcus Sacchetta, Nick Brunetta, Matt Keenan and
Carmen Scarfone. Scoring the lone goal for the Chargers was Kyle

In the game between the Algonquin Barons and Manitoulin Mustangs, the
Mustangs would blank the Barons 2 to 0 giving Manitoulin their first
round robin tournament win. Both goals came in the second period by
Thomas Hayden and Ben Haner would get the other goal while on the
power play.

The championship final would have the Confederation Chargers face off
against the St. Mary’s Knights for the second time in the day with the
Knights shutting out the Chargers 8 to 0.

Johnny Hammond and Matt Keenan would get two goals a piece while
singles went to Marcus Sacchetta, Jakob Porco, Lucas Stefano and Jon

The Knights will head to the OFSAA AAA Hockey competition in Windsor
from 7 Mar to 10 Mar.
