Mike gets a new job

The District of Sault Ste. Marie Social Services Administration Board (DSSMSSAB) has named their first official Chief Administrative Officer (CAO). Chair Janet Gawne and the Board are very pleased to announce the unanimous appointment of Mike Nadeau as CAO.

In October 2015, the District of Sault Ste. Marie Social Services Administration Board (DSSMSSAB) passed a resolution to end service agreements with the City of Sault Ste. “The Board is extremely happy that Mike Nadeau has agreed to lead our team into the future and through the transition to the direct provision of services. His significant work experience along with his knowledge of our programs and staff easily make Mike the best choice.” said Gawne.

Mike Nadeau leaves his position as Commissioner of Social Services with the City of Sault Ste. Marie to oversee the DSSMSSAB mandated services which include Ontario Works, Social Housing, Community Child Care and EMS Land Ambulance. Prior to his 3 years as Commissioner of Social Services, Nadeau spent 12 years as the Executive Director for the Ontario Native Welfare Administrators’ Association. He possesses a Master of Business Administration with a concentration on Community Economic Development.

Mike Nadeau has also been recognized for his work provincially through his appointment as the sole Northern Ontario representative to the 14 member Ontario Expert Panel on Homelessness. Nadeau brings extensive experience and contacts working with senior members of federal, provincial, municipal and first nation government.
