Women and men looking for a spring makeover can rejoice; a new shop in the Sault is here to serve those who are looking for a new ‘do.
Wig Boutique opened today at 154 Great Northern Road and saw steady traffic throughout the day. It is one of four licensee locations in Ontario, with the parent store located in Sudbury.
“The Sault doesn’t have anything like this,” said store owner Gail Giardino, who is now retired after a 30 year banking career. “There is a need now for wigs for more reasons than hair loss.”
People suffering from hair loss will find wigs in a myriad of colours, lengths and construction. For those with hair loss, a hand tied “mono top” wig can be parted to appear as though the hair is real. Clients can try on wigs in a private dressing room, where they can be fitted by an expert. Headscarves, eyebrow kits and skin conditioning products are also available for people who are undergoing chemotherapy. Wigs range in price but there are payment plans available for those who need them.
For those who have hair intact but are simply looking to refresh their style, Wig Boutique offers wig caps that keep long hair flattened so anyone can wear a wig. A “Fun Fashion Line” offers lower priced synthetic wigs for a new look or a fun night out on the town. People wishing to lengthen their current hairstyle can also purchase lengthening extensions, and those who are looking for a quick but subtle change can add drama with bang clips.
The store will soon be accepting hair donations as part of the Free Wigs for Kids program. The donations help children who have experienced hair loss due to chemotherapy.
Wig Boutique is open tomorrow from 11am-3pm and is closed on Sunday and Monday. It will reopen from 11am-5pm on Tuesday and Wednesday, 11am-7pm Thursday and 11am-5pm on Friday.
