The Canadian Government is taking steps to improve Canada’s ability to effectively remedy dumped and subsidized imports, including through specific legislative amendments, as part of Budget 2016, announced David Orazietti, MPP.
“Yesterday’s federal budget commitment to strengthening Canada’s response to unfair trade is a significant step in the right direction when it comes to stopping foreign steel dumping into Canada,” said Orazietti. “While there is still work to be done, I am optimistic that the Canadian Government will act quickly to address this issue. I also would like to commend local MP Terry Sheehan for his work in being a strong advocate for the steel industry federally.”
As part of Budget 2016, the Canadian Government also committed to launching stakeholder consultations in order to ensure that Canada’s trade remedy system offers Canadian businesses the ability to respond to changing global trade conditions.
