On 23 March 2016 at approximately 8:30am the Sault Ste. Marie Police Service responded to a call for service regarding a threat to Superior Heights Collegiate& Vocational School located at 750 North St., Sault Ste. Marie.
As a result the Algoma District School Board made a decision to direct a precautionary closure of the school while the matter was being investigated. The investigation is on-going but there is no indication that there is any immediate threat to the safety of the school or its staff and students at this time.
Algoma District School Board (ADSB) would like to advise parents and family members of Superior Heights Collegiate & Vocational School (SCHVS) that there has been a threat made against the school. Sault Ste. Marie Police Service are on site and ADSB is working closely with the police.
The safety of students and staff is always our first priority and for their safety, students and staff are being bused to alternate sites:
- Students and staff of the 7-12 school are being bused to Alexander Henry High School.
- Community Education students and staff are being bused to Kiwedin Public School.
