Taxi robbed at knifepoint – Nope


On August 16, 2015, at 4:10 a.m., the East Algoma Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) began an investigation into a Taxi driver who reported that an unknown male had just robbed him at knifepoint on Mississauga First Nation.

After a result of a lengthy and detailed investigation, it was determined that the robbery did not happen. On March 9, 2016, the Taxi driver and complainant, Christopher Jason BLACK, 31 years of age, from Blind River, ON was charged with:

  • Public Mischief, contrary to section140(b)(c) of the Criminal Code; and
  • Theft Under $5000, contrary to section 334(1) of the Criminal Code.

The accused is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Blind River on May 5, 2016.
