If you’re waiting for Spring to take hold, you will be waiting a little longer, we have snow to deal with yet.
Unlike the dusting of snow Sault Ste.Marie saw yesterday and overnight, this next system promises to dump anywhere between 1 and 10cm by Thursday afternoon. The culprit is a low pressure system commonly a “Colorado Low” will move into the Great Lakes later tonight with snow developing tonight and lasting through Thursday afternoon. The temperature will dip to below seasonal, meaning the snow will accumulate.
The system is expected to track into Southern Ontario where the bulk of the weather will be for Thursday with a mix of snow, freezing rain and rain. For us, we will be on the outer skirts of the system as it tracks by, making it hard to pinpoint the exact amount of snow we will see.
The good news is, it won’t last, temperatures are expected to rebound to above freezing this weekend, albeit not exactly warm. Temperatures will hover in the low single digits for the weekend and a mix precipitation is the call for Sunday. Temperatures slowly gain traction next week, however the real warmth of Spring will not be felt until mid to late April.
