Canadian Steel Producers Association Thanks Members for Opportunity to Present to All-Party Steel Caucus

The Canadian Steel Producers Association (CSPA) and its member companies would like to express our sincere thanks for the opportunity to discuss our industry with the all-party Parliamentary Steel Caucus on Tuesday, April 12th 2016.  In light of the critical challenges created by global overcapacity and the increasing frequency of trade distorting behavior in steel, we believe this occasion at which Canada’s steel producers were able to introduce our industry and discuss our essential public policy priorities to have been important and timely.

The CSPA appreciated the opportunity to highlight our industry’s presence in Canadian communities, our vital place in Canada’s automotive, infrastructure and energy supply chains and the environmental benefits associated with the recycling and use of Canadian steel in Canada.  We also welcomed the opportunity to discuss the CSPA’s proposals for trade remedy modernization and the importance of the ongoing enforcement of non-market economy provisions as relates China.

The CSPA would like to specifically thank Members of Parliament Bob Bratina (Hamilton East – Stoney Creek) and Terry Sheehan (Sault Ste. Marie) for their efforts organizing and co-chairing the Steel Caucus.  We look forward to future engagements with the Caucus and will continue to work with Members to enhance the understanding of and appreciation for our industry in Canada.
