Earth Day Cleaning

On Friday, the Sault Ste. Marie Chamber of Commerce (SSMCOC) held its first annual Earth Day Downtown Clean-Up. Chamber members and friends of the Chamber came out to help clean up the downtown and boardwalk during the lunch hour. Over 30 volunteers joined in collecting a full truck load of litter.

“Volunteering is so important to our community and the Chamber,” said SSMCOC President Monica Dale, “we are so excited about the turnout we had today. Thank you to everyone who took the time to help make a difference in our downtown!”

Following the Clean-Up, the hard working volunteers made their way to Solo Trattoria where they were able to enjoy pizza and salad that was generously sponsored by the popular downtown restaurant.

“Today is about our members committing to a better community,” said SSMCOC Executive Director Rory Ring. “We are all here today on Earth Day committing to enhancing our City’s downtown community. We do want to extend a special thank you to our Chamber member, Solo Trattoria and owner Chris Lepore for both supporting and rewarding our volunteers today, many of whom took time away from their places of business.”
