Freezing Rain likely in areas north

While we’re enjoying this Spring warmth, (we hit 21c yesterday) with temperatures in the high double digits, communities north of the Sault still have some wintery weather to deal with.

Environment Canada issued a special weather statement and warnings for areas in the Wawa and White River areas and freezing rain / snow warnings for Hearst and Chapleau.

A band of freezing rain may arrive this afternoon with the passage of a sharp cold front. The freezing rain may start to affect North of Superior this afternoon and the regions east of Lake Superior tonight.

Freezing rain warnings may be issued as the event draws nearer.

Travellers should be prepared for poor winter travelling conditions and adjust plans accordingly. Power outages are not out of the question if freezing rain becomes significant enough.

Southern Algoma areas including the Sault will only see high cloud from this system overnight and into Monday. Temperatures are expected to be cut in half from today’s high of 22c. Temperatures rebound quickly on Tuesday and for most of the week, a small system will try to push in next weekend with rain and cooler temperatures.
