Member of Parliament, Terry Sheehan, has announced the formation of a Member of Parliament’s Youth Advisory Council.
Modelled after the Prime Minister’s Youth Advisory Council presented in Budget 2016, Mr. Sheehan hopes to work with youth in the riding to develop a group to advise him on key policy issues such as employment and education, building stronger communities as well as climate change and growth.
The first strategic planning meeting will be held Wednesday, April 27th at the Centre for Social Justice and Good Works, located at 1 Herrick Street (behind Precious Blood Cathedral) from 5:30 pm – 7:00 pm.
“The youth of Sault Ste. Marie are indispensable in their wealth of ideas and unique perspectives on the issues facing our community today and in the years ahead. They are incredible leaders, organizers, and innovators that deserve a strong voice as we build a better Canada and I hope the Youth Advisory Council will be a forum for that. I’m extending the invitation to all youth and youth champions in our community to come out, share their ideas, and really make this Youth Advisory Council their own,” stated Sheehan.
