Are you looking for something healthy and fun to do this afternoon? For just $5, you can help Algoma Residential Community Hospice (ARCH) today and get a great workout in at The Essar Centre. The event is open to the public until 2:30 pm and there is plenty of ice to be shared.
Hosted by Sault College Public Relations and Event Management students, the event was open to teams in the community that could raise a minimum of $250. There are door prizes open for all teams and awards for the team that raises the most funds.
“We had to design logos, find a target audience, go out into the community and tell people what the event was. We also used social media to promote it,” said Kayla Prinn, Sault College student.
Natasha Colak, program professor, has been working with the group of sixteen students for the past few months. Her desire to support ARCH came from grandfather’s passing in September.
“I wanted to do something in memory of him. The students have worked incredibly hard. They are going on placement next week so this is a nice wrap-up for them. Every year, we look to put on events in the community with different organizations. We received a nice sponsorship from the Group Health Centre to offset costs. The students are excited to give back to the community.”
8:00 PM UPDATE: Colak has informed Sault Online that the event raised a grand total of $4317.32.
