Become a T-Bird this summer


As we get set to approach the summer months, it’s still a busy time for hockey in Sault Ste. Marie, Ontario.

The Soo Thunderbirds Junior A hockey club is holding their 2016 Summer Prospects Camp at the John Rhodes Community Centre from July 11th – August 17th, and is open to players born from 1996-2000.

Your two time Northern Ontario Junior Hockey League champions will be having tryout times on Mondays from 4-6 p.m. and Wednesdays from 5-7 p.m.

Cost to register is $450.00 and the camp will be instructed under T-Birds head coach and general manager Jordan Smith along with assistant coach Ryan Maunu.

Players interested must fill out a permission to skate form and cheques must be payable to The Tech 1921 Ltd.

The T-Birds are preparing for their 18th season in the Northern Ontario Junior Hockey League and it’s your turn to earn a spot with them!

Matt had graduated from Sault College in the General Arts and Sciences program in 2011 and has been working in the sports field ever since. The Sault Ste. Marie, Ontario native has worked as an Athletics Assistant in the Sault College Athletics Department during his final year of school in 2011. After graduating, Stefano worked for two years at the George Leach Centre from 2011-2013 for the Algoma University Thunderbirds Varsity Basketball Games as an Athletics Assistant. From 2013 on, Stefano has been working as the Soo Thunderbirds communications person and has also been volunteering with Shaw TV Sault Ste. Marie since 2014, doing Soo Thunderbirds TV Segments.
