Canada’s Public Safety Minister has condemned the mass shooting that killed at least 50 people and injured dozens of others at a gay nightclub in Orlando, Fla.
Ralph Goodale wrote on Twitter that he is shocked by the mass shooting, and that Canadians condemn such violence.
U.S. police say the attack happened early Sunday morning, when a gunman wielding an assault-type rifle and a handgun opened fire inside a crowded gay nightclub.
He later died in a gunfight with police.
Goodale says his thoughts and prayers are with the loved ones of the victims.
Ontario Premier Kathleen Wynne, who is openly gay, wrote on Twitter that her thoughts are with the LGBTQ community.
It’s considered the worst mass shooting in U.S. history.
