Convention to draw thousands to Sault Ste. Marie this July

Jehovah’s Witnesses are inviting all of their neighbors to attend their annual convention to be held at the Essar Arena. The theme of this year’s program is “Remain Loyal to Jehovah!”

Wayne Holroyd a convention spokesman, states: “We strongly believe that loyalty is an essential part of any healthy relationship. Our convention this year will help people develop stronger bonds with friends, family members and, above all, with God. We are confident that all who attend will enjoy this program.”  The three-day program will feature 49 presentations, each exploring the theme “loyalty.” Additionally, the Witnesses have prepared 35 video segments specifically for the program plus two short films that will be shown on Saturday and Sunday. Each day, the morning and afternoon sessions will be introduced by music videos recorded for the convention.

Starting the week of June 13, Jehovah’s Witnesses will extend personal invitations to everyone from Sault Ste. Marie, Sudbury, Thunder Bay, North Bay, Timmins and the surrounding areas to attend the convention with them. Locally, all of the area’s 36 congregations of Jehovah’s Witnesses will be supporting the activity of distributing printed invitations to the convention. The three-day event will begin Friday, July 8 at 9:20 a.m. There is no admission fee. Conventions of Jehovah’s Witnesses are supported entirely by voluntary donations.

An estimated 2,800 will come to Essar Arena for the Bible-based programs. Jehovah’s Witnesses in Canada plan to host 57 conventions in 26 cities. Worldwide, there are over 8,200,000 Witnesses in more than 118,000 congregations.

  1. “Our convention this year will help people develop stronger bonds with friends, family members”

Uh-huh, with specific instructions being given to completely shun those family and friends who depart the religion. Makes sense. /s
