Male Pedestrian Dies in Great Northern Collision


On June 28, 2016 at 7:30 p.m. Sault Ste Marie Police officers responded to a report of a pedestrian struck by a vehicle on Great Northern Road in front of Civic 345. Investigation revealed that the vehicle, a 2007 Subaru Impreza was southbound on Great Northern Road in the curb lane. At the time of the collision the 68 year old male pedestrian was attempting to cross the road walking westbound without the right of way and in an uncontrolled area. The male was transported to the Sault Area Hospital and was pronounced dead shortly after arrival. There is no indication that speed, alcohol or distracted driving was involved. The investigation is continuing.
