“What are we legally able to do,” asked councillors Myers and Hollingsworth about halting certain business downtown like the methadone clinics.
“We have to be very careful in terms of restrictions… there is case law on that point… it deals with discrimination and human rights… ” answered the city’s legal department.
Councillor Hollingsworth made the mistake of first calling the methadone rehabilitation centres, “meth labs.”
Councillor Myers wants our downtown to be more like Petoskey.
“These are people trying to rehabilitate themselves…” threw back councillor Romano who is on the Queenstown board and has only heard of one complaint so far.
The citizens of the Sault cannot help but notice the small mindedness of statements like this and will be sure not to re elect the above two clowns next time around.
“Meth lab” indeed.
They should be referred to as methadone clinics, not meth clinics.
“Councillor Hollingsworth made the mistake of first calling the methadone rehabilitation centres, “meth labs.” This what Ward 2 elected to city council.Dumb and dumber.
Is there more to the story? It’s like it was half written.
It is horse and buggy thinking such as this that firmly holds our city rooted in 1960’s. We need people with vision, people who are capable of moving forward in city hall and we need be free of naysayer, backward people such as these two. Myopic councils have been the norm, it is time for change.
Mike
