Four Sault Ste. Marie youth are preparing to represent Northern Ontario at the Canadian Youth Championship June 9, 2016 – June 13, 2016. The four will compete against sixty- four Provincial Champions from across Canada.
Ema Bowen, Aidan Bass, Ryleah Bell and Steven Oliana are proud to represent Sault Ste. Marie at this prestigious event. The four qualified for Nationals with impressive performances in April at the Provincial finals held at Northcrest Lanes.
Cousins, Ema Bowen and Ryleah Bell, are excited to attend the National finals together. Neither are strangers to National competition, however this will be the first time they will attend the event together. Aidan Bass, who recently achieved a gold medal at the Youth Bowling Nationals in Calgary, is looking to repeat his performance in St. Catherine’s this month. Team Manager Liisa Woolley is confident that the whole team will represent Sault Ste. Marie well at National Competition.
The event will kick off with Opening Ceremonies on Thursday June 9, 2016 in St. Catherines and competitors will take to the bowling lanes for a 3-day tournament Friday. Tenpin youth bowlers will compete for National Championship titles, in singles, doubles , team play and all events. Four Thunder Bay bowlers, Braedyn Woolley, Abbigail Gunsinger, Tamara Craig and Aaron Craig, will round out Northern Ontario’s contingent.
