Soo Night Hawks Take Two versus Sault Michigan 17U


The Soo Night Hawks travelled to James Field in Sault Ste. Marie Michigan on Saturday June 18th to play a double header versus the Sault Michigan 17U baseball team.

In the opener the Soo Night Hawks prevailed 5 to 2.  Brennan Mitchell picked up the victory with a 4 inning start giving up 2 hits and both runs, while striking out 4 batters.  Tyler Sayers picked up the save with 2 innings of 1 hit shutout relief.  Sayers also recorded 3 strike outs.  Offensively the team was led by Braedon Whalen who went 3 for 4 while also scoring a run and driving in a run.  Also picking up hits in the victory were Brennan Mitchell, Tyler Sayers, Zac Duchesne, Brandon Boyer, Joe Maclean, Cole Wright, Stephen Bos, and Noah Belec.  The Night Hawks took an early lead with a 4 run first inning before Sault Michigan scored 2 in the 4th to cut the lead in half, the Night Hawks eventually won 5 to 2.

In game two the Night Hawks beat Sault Michigan 11 to 2.  Noah Pearce picked up the victory with 4 innings of 1 hit no earned run pitching while also striking out 6 batters.  Offensively the team was led by Stephen Bos with a 2 for 3 2 RBI game.  Also picking up hits in the victory were Braedon Whalen, Zac Duchesne, Noah Pearce, Joe Maclean, Jarrid Smith, and Noah O’Brien.  In this game the Night Hawks again took the lead first by scoring 3 in the second inning, Sault Michigan would score a pair in the 4th to cut the lead to 3 to 2, before the Night Hawks would tack on 2 more in the 5th and 6 in the 6th to complete the 11 to 2 win and the two game sweep.

Following weekend action and picking up the pair of victories the Night Hawks season record now stands at 12 and 8.
