On 14 July 2016 at 11:45pm officers from the Sault Ste Marie Drug Enforcement Unit, Crime Suppression Unit, K-9 Unit and Emergency Services Unit executed a search warrant at a residence on Brunswick Avenue. A search of the residence by officers located quantities of Crystal Methamphetamine, Fentanyl Powder, Hashish, Marihuana, cash monies and drug paraphernalia. Charged as a result of the search are:
– Darrel Dowding 43yrs of Brunswick Ave with possession of a controlled drug (two counts), Possession of a controlled drug for the purpose of trafficking (two counts) and possession of stolen property
– David Dowding 28yrs of Sixth Avenue with possession of a controlled drug (four counts) and breach of probation
– Andre Cormier 27yrs of North Street with possession of a controlled drug (four counts) and breach of probation
All accused will appear in court on August 22.
On 14 July 2016 at 9pm witnesses observed a male in an LCBO store who allegedly appeared to be under the influence of alcohol. This same male was observed leaving the store and operating a vehicle out of the parking lot. Police were contacted and were able to locate the vehicle and investigate the driver. It was determined that the accused 53 year old Sheldon Maitland of Harris St was in care and control of his motor vehicle while impaired. The accused was arrested and returned to the station for a breath test. The accused has been charged with impaired care and control of a motor vehicle and care and control of a motor vehicle with more than 80 mgs alcohol in blood. The accused will appear in court on August 22.
