Demolition site target for Arson


Arson is suspected in an early morning fire at the former Sir James Dunn high school on Wellington Street Wednesday.

The high school , that is currently being demolished by a Sudbury based company has seen a number of trespassers since demolition began in late Spring of this year.

Workers with the demolition company noticed heavy smoke in the hallways, Sault Fire Services and City Police were dispatched to the scene. One firefighter was injured at the scene and taken to hospital.  The smoke was noticed shortly after 6am when workers arrived. The demolition crews say the fire appears to have started on a first floor washroom.

The investigation is continuing.
