PHI Dental Care . State of the Art Dentistry

20160709_13113220160709_133250Sault Ste. Marie’s newest family dental practice, PHI Dental Care held its Grand Opening on Saturday, July 9th. The doors were open to welcome curious lay people and dentistry professionals from the Sault community. Many people came out for the big reveal, and to take part in a tour, led by Chantale Simon  ,Treatment Coordinator  . With an eye to creating an inclusive space, the front of PHI Dental building is wrapped with an accessible ramp. Pops of bright yellow colour welcome people into the front doors of PHI Dental Care.

PHI Dental was inspired by the mathematical ratio PHI: a number that captures beauty, balance and harmony in nature, life, theology and the universe. Often called the “golden ratio”, which is 1.618, it has fascinated the ancient Greeks, Renaissance artists, astronomers and scientists throughout history.

“The PHI Dental Care team will continue to offer their current patients the quality of dentistry they have come to expect at Cambrian Dental.”  shared Dr. Lawrence Chong.  Dr. Chong, owner PHI Dental Care, is a dentist with over 11 years experience and has assembled a team including Dr. Kimlan Bell, a veteran dentist of over 25 years, Dr. Matthew Chan, who is a periodontal specialist, several dental hygienists and staff members who are warm and welcoming.

20160709_132751Over and above the usual dentistry services offered, PHI offers implants, specialty periodontal services, dentures, orthodontics, conscious sedation dentistry and much more. Patients will benefit from the new practice’s CBCT scanner, digital x-rays, Carestream 3D digital impression technology and a modern sterilization centre.

The front lobby area is bright and comfortable with an inclusive atmosphere, ample seating and consideration given to a play area for young children.

20160709_132404 “There are three consult rooms.” shared Chantale . “The 11 Operatories have been designed with the patient in mind. There are flat screens that can manoeuvre above the patients head, so that they can watch a television program or movie while tilted back in the dentists’ chair.”

Chantelle explained that the modern sterilization centre utilizes a fail-safe method, “red means not-sterilized and blue (ultraviolet lighting) means sterilized”, referencing  the tools of the dental trade. Colleagues in the dental profession, who were part of  Chantale’s PHI tour were very impressed, often asking questions that only trained professionals would even know to ask.

20160709_132902The Panoramic X-Ray area is protected by lead-proof glass. “We offer orthodontic x-rays, and dental implant CT Scans.” With an on-site laboratory, this state of the art dental facility is one of a kind in the Sault community.

There are four dental hygienist rooms, three dentist rooms, and  room 11 is set up for a Periodontist specialist who comes to PHI (from Toronto) for a scheduled few days a month to perform dental surgeries and consults.

There is a large staff room at the back of the building; a building that  seems to keep opening up to more and more rooms.  Even the floors have been given special consideration.

Folks who turned out for the Grand Opening were treated to a lovely spread of fruit, cheeses, meats, veggies, cake and beverages. And after that, everyone went home and thoroughly brushed their teeth.

Congratulations PHI Dental Care from the entire team at
