Police blotter for Monday


On June 30th a male was in the 200 block of Wellington St West. in the early morning hours when he was allegedly punched and stabbed by another male unknown to him, who then made off with cash and cigarettes. The victim’s injuries were not life threatening.

On July 16th, the same accused male entered a convenience store located in the 600 block of Wellington St. West shortly after midnight, allegedly brandished a knife and demanded cash and cigarettes. Approximately 22 hours later just before midnight on the 16th of July, the same accused allegedly entered another convenience store in the Second Line and Wellington St. West area and once again brandished another knife and made off with cash and cigarettes.

On the 17th of July, the accused allegedly attended yet another convenience store in the Gore St area at approximately 5:00 am and once again made off with cash and cigarettes. Later in the day on the 17th of July, initial investigating officers from the June 30th incident spotted the suspect who was now known to them and arrested him for that incident. Further investigation by Detectives resulted in the laying of the other 3 robbery charges.
As a result, 19 year old Arian Luzzi-Pears of Carufel Ave. has been charged with 4 counts of Robbery, 1 count of assault with a weapon and 4 counts of breaching his probation which required him to keep the peace and be good. He will be appearing in Bail Court on July 18th.

On the 18th July 2016, at approximately 9:15 am the Sault Ste. Marie Police responded to assist the Sault Ste. Marie Fire Service in relation to a garage fire on Courtney Crescent. Fire Fighters were able to extinguish the fire but the garage has been destroyed and there appears to be heat damage to a residence. This incident is being handled by the Sault Ste. Marie Fire Service and not requiring any further Police involvement.
