When it rains, it pours

Heavy rain and a few thunderstorms are forecast for much of the Algoma region today and into tonight. Most of the heavier rain will fall north of the city but Sault Ste. Marie will still experience scattered heavy showers Saturday.

Rain, at times heavy, is expected across parts of Northeastern Ontario late this afternoon into tonight. Rainfall amounts of 30 to 50 mm are possible by Sunday afternoon. Isolated embedded thunderstorms are also possible which could result in locally higher amounts. The rain is expected to taper off Sunday evening.

The area is being monitored for potential rainfall warnings.

This rainfall is associated with a low pressure system that is forecast to cross northeastern Ontario tonight and Sunday.
