Art in the Parking Lot attracts a Crowd

Art in the Parking Lot kicked off today with over 1,000 in attendance and will continue until 5 p.m.

It will commence again tomorrow from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Russell Raven(pictured), who heads up the Arts Council of Sault Ste. Marie and District was able to gather over 20 artists to the Mill Market building and parking lot.

And there will be even more tomorrow, with face painting, musicians, carvers and local talent.

He is trying to be “more inclusive of all of our arts,” he said. “I’d like to see a Shakespeare in the park and all of that in the future. ”

There will be more demonstrations Sunday for the children.

There were artists there more happy with the venue as in the past at the pavilion, where he says there was problems with security and wind.

This is a rejuvenation of the event as it was cancelled last year.

“It’s all about the artists. And we want them involved and the community involved.”

They lowered the admission price for the artists to $25 and $45 for indoors.

“We’re all about promoting our Algoma artists.”

Some artists came from as far away as Terrace Bay.
