Investigation continues at “Chevy’s Place”

The building that was destroyed Wednesday night was commonly referred to as “Chevy’s Place” says Alycia Larouche.   “used to be my grandpa’s house before he died in 2004. Many people may remember this place as Chevy’s place, him and my grandma used to rent cabins and ice shacks, sell minnows and had a little store. Alycia told SaultOnline.com

At approximately 9:05 pm on August 11, 2016 Sault Ste. Marie Ontario Provincial Police (OPP), Batchewana Fire and Rescue and Goulais River Fire and rescued were called to attend a house fire located in the 7000 block of Highway 17 North.

Highway 17 was closed but was re-opened Thursday.

The house was not lived in at the time of the fire. No one is known to have resided inside.

The Office of the Fire Marshall (OFM) has been called in to investigate.

“This is such a tragedy so many memories at that house” said Larouche.

The investigation is continuing.

    • So true, hers and many others. My house was always full of my kids friends…sleepovers, birthday parties, hallowe’en parties and more. A lot of great memories made in this home.
