Over the last two months the Sault Ste. Marie Police Service has received several reports of a male exposing himself. Officers from Investigation Services commenced an investigation into these incidents.
As a result a 27-year old male has been charged with one count of sexual assault, four counts of indecent act and one count of breach of recognizance. The accused appeared in bail court this morning.
In the following four incidents the male was seen masturbating and charged with indecent act:
-On July 22nd the male attended inside a bus shelter on Great Northern Road and sat down beside a female already in the shelter. The female left the shelter and reported the incident
-On July 26th the male was in the area of a park on Old Garden River Road and a female witness reported the incident to the police.
-On the 2nd of August a female was walking in the parking lot of a business on Great Northern Road when the male pulled up beside her in a small red vehicle. The incident was reported to police.
-On the 4th of August a female was parked in her vehicle in the downtown area. A small silver car pulled up beside her and the victim looked to see if she knew who it was. The victim reported the incident to police.
In another incident the male was charged with one count of sexual assault:
-On the 3rd of August a female was in a business in the downtown area. The male walked behind the victim and rubbed against her. The male had his pants undone and his genitals were exposed. The male left the business and the victim contacted police.
At the time of the offences the accused was on a recognizance to live at an address that he was no longer living at.
Officers from Investigation Services are continuing to work on these investigations.
