You may have noticed something missing on the Memorial Tower on Queen Street. The top of the structure was removed due to the crumbling nature of the 70 year old tower originally built in 1946 as a monument to the war dead.
A report completed by Tulloch engineering in 2014 stated the tower was in need of repairs to the tune of $400,000 . Part of that work includes removing deteriorated concrete, building a new glass enclosure removing interior stucco finishes. The tower’s copper roof was also in need of repair.
