Sault driver charged in Iron Bridge

On August 10, 2016, members of the East Algoma Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) were on regular patrol duties in the area of Iron Bridge.

Shortly after 7:00 p.m. police observed an Off Road Vehicle (ORV) travelling southbound on Dayton Road. The driver and passenger were not wearing helmets. A traffic stop was initiated. As a result of the investigation, the officer determined the driver had been consuming alcohol. The driver was arrested.

Gregg MIZZI, 34 years of age, from Sault Ste. Marie, Ontario, was charged with:

* Drive Off Road Vehicle – Fail to Wear Proper Helmet contrary to section to section 19(1) of the Off Road Vehicle Act ; and

* Drive with More than 80 milligrams of Alcohol in Blood, contrary to section 253(1) of the Criminal Code.

The accused is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Blind River on September 1, 2016.
