The Community Living Algoma TAPS took on the police tonight at Queen Elizabeth Park and came out victorious.
“Achievements… reaching goals and comradery amongst the players where they boost each other,” is what it’s about said one parent. “Leaving their disabilities behind, they are all treated special.”
Each year the TAPS Team plays the police, the firefighters and the paramedics on the ball field.
For at least 19 years this has been running “and it’s such a fun evening,” said Jane Martynuck of the police team.
“Once you’ve played it, everybody wants to come back. We’ve developed relationships with the ball players. They really are the true champions.”
Even the children of police officers come out to lend a glove on the field.
It’s a chance to see a different side of the police and Community Living Algoma.
