: The Sault Ste. Marie Museum will host “An Evening with Kim Forbes” in celebration of their former Curator/Director’s distinguished career. The Come and Go Event will take place at the Museum on September 20, 2016 from 7:00 PM to 9:00 PM with Presentations beginning at 8:00 PM.
“The Museum Board is extremely appreciative of Kim’s valuable contribution to the Museum and our Community over the past 18 years. We wanted to bring together many of the Museum’s members, patrons and benefactors along with Kim’s colleagues and friends for an evening of reflection and thanks for his numerous accomplishments” said Board Chair, Allan Hackett.
Under Kim’s tutelage and thoughtful persistence, the Sault Ste. Marie Museum is able to provide the Community with access to an impressive collection and extensive archives that store and preserve our local history and culture. The entire Museum collection has been digitized meaning there is now a continuously maintained data base containing a recorded description and image of each object in the collection in company with rich historical and cultural archives available for research. The numbers tell a tale; the Museum houses over 200,000 images, over 10,000 artifacts and complete archival records of 15 plus Partnerships with Organizations within our Community. Kim and numerous staff over many years can be justly proud of their collective contribution to these achievements.
We know that with all events of this nature, there will be some persons connected to Kim that we were unable to reach or who otherwise we inadvertently missed when preparing our guest list. We extend an apology to any such person or persons and invite you to participate in this special evening.
