A presentation is in the works to come to further council meetings for a pilot-project 7 megawatt storage unit to be put in the city.
This was discussed at city council tonight and the variables of the storage unit was not presented but city councillor Butland spoke to it as being a positive impact on the city.
It is not known when the presentation will be coming to council, but the PUC is hoping to be present.
Butland did note that our community produces twice as much power than is needed.
It is not known yet if this energy storage unit will have a financial affect on the city in terms of giving back to the city.
As PUC rates skyrocket, this may be a way that the city can hold on to some of the power we produce.
If it will mean cheaper rates to the city, it is not known yet.
