Hounds trim roster to 26 following Luke Williams Memorial

The Soo Greyhounds closed out Training Camp 2016 with the team’s Annual Luke Williams Memorial Red & White game.

Following the game, General Manager Kyle Raftis, Head Coach Drew Bannister and their accompanying staff reduced the team’s active roster down to 26 players.

Presently remaining with the club are:
GOALIES (3) – Joseph Raaymakers, Matthew Villalta, Dougie Newhouse

DEFENCEMAN (8) – Jacob Leguerrier, Anthony DeMeo, Theo Calvas, Conor Timmins, Medric Mercier, Colton White, Mac Hollowell, Holden Wale

FORWARDS (15) – Zach Senyshyn, Boris Katchouk, Calvin Martin, Blake Speers, Liam Hawel, Otto Makinen, Hayden Verbeek, Morgan Frost, Alex Gritz, Bryce Yetman, Bobby MacIntyre, Jack Kopacka, Tim Gettinger, Barrett Hayton, Frankie Pucci

15 players were subsequently released from the club, or re-assigned to various programs following the game. Those players are: Isaiah Payne, Wyatt Villalta, Wesley Weir, Luca Nocita, Zach Trott, Brad Johnson, Elijah Nurse, Luca Durante, Taylor Carlson, Zach Taylor, Alex Daigle, Nathan Gooch, Ryan Brown, Brett Jacklin, Mathew Hayami

The 2016-17 Hounds have little time to prepare for the start of their OHL pre-season action which begins Saturday, September 3rd, when the team travels down the I-75 and into Saginaw to take on the Spirit (7:07 p.m.)

Those same two teams will conclude this weekend’s home-and-home series on Sunday – September 4th with a 4:07 p.m. start at the Essar Centre Box Office.
