Olympian visits the Sault to much Applause

Two-time Olympian Martha McCabe popped into Sault College this morning to answer questions about her Olympic journey and talk about the trials and successes of it so far.

“I’m driving across the country to meet as many people as possible to show them that Olympians are the same people like them and to make them feel that anything is possible. ”

McCabe greeted over 300 from St.Paul Elementary, St. Mary’s, Holy Cross and Sault College students.

They had questions for her about her swim techniques, injuries, what it is like being at the Olympics and so on.

She finished to much applause, to sign autographs and talk to the crowd of young people that wanted to meet her in person.

Martha has competed on the international stage most notably in the Rio 2016 Olympics where she was co-captain of the Canadian National Swim Team with Ryan Cochrane and in London 2012 where she placed fifth in her event. She has also won a Silver Medal in the 2015 Pan American Games and a Bronze Medal in the 2011 World Championships.
