The Big Canoe Arrives

Around 40 people arrived at around 8:30 a.m. at Bellevue Park.

After getting slightly lost ìn the dense fog they arrived on shore and were greeted by close to 100 people cheering them on in praise and song.

Chief Dean Sayers of Batchewana First Nation said a welcome greeting with many smudge pots burning and sacred tobacco placed in the water for their arrival.

There was also a short meeting with officers from immigration.
