Nominations to the Sault Ste. Marie Downtown Business Improvement Area Board of Directors will be accepted at the Downtown BIA office at 496 Queen Street East until Monday September 26, 2016. Nomination forms are available at the Downtown BIA office and at www.saultdowntown.com. Original signatures are required.
The new board of directors will be comprised of eight individuals elected by the membership and one member of Council.
Voting will take place from September 27, 2016 until October 12, 2016.
An up-to-date list of members entitled to vote is currently being created/revised. Members are owners of business property in the business improvement area and their tenants who pay all or part of the property taxes.
A letter has been sent to each property owner in the prescribed business property class in the business improvement area outlining the election process and requesting that owners identify their tenants. Tenants may also self-identify by swearing a declaration at the City Clerk’s Office, Civic Centre, 99 Foster Drive, Sault Ste. Marie ON.
Ballots will be mailed to members on September 27, 2016 and will be accepted until October 12, 2016.
The City Clerk’s office will receive and tabulate the votes. The successful nominees will be formally appointed by City Council on October 24, 2016.
