Last year, 2015, was a great success. The response from the participants and the citizens of Sault Ste. Marie was overwhelming. The money raised and the food donated helped a lot of people living in poverty in our community. Everyone involved reportedly had an incredibly fun time and vowed to make this year’s event even better.
The 2016 Sleep Over will be held at the Soup Kitchen on Friday October 28th.
All participants are encouraged to complete their registration forms before collecting pledges from your friends, colleagues and neighbors. The completed forms can be dropped off or faxed to the Soup Kitchen. Pledge sheets must be submitted to the Soup Kitchen no later than 7p.m. on the day of the event.
Bring your own box (BYOB) and be as creative as you want with the decorations. Be sure to bring warm clothing, blankets and supplies for making your box into a suitable shelter. Prizes will be awarded for a variety of box decorating categories.
The site of the event will be monitored throughout the night by volunteers, parents of participants and the City Police. The Soup Kitchen will remain open throughout the night to provide live band performances, food and fun. At 7 a.m. breakfast will be served and awards will be presented. Students attending will be allowed time for their school community hour’s sheets for the time spent collecting pledges as well as the time spent sleeping in a box.
