A business from the Sault which has branched out to other municipalities in Ontario, and has nearly 300 employees has won a big award.
Tulloch Engineering has won business of the year (51+ emplyees) at the Northern Ontario Business Awards.
“We’ve set a goal for ourselves to be the leading provider of surveying and geomatic services in Ontario,” said Mark Tulloch, CEO of the Huntsville-based consulting engineering firm.
Beginning with a modest seven employee consulting survey practice in Thessalon in 1991, the 25-year-old firm has expanded to more than 275 employees in 10 offices across the province, including eight in Northern Ontario, with another acquisition this fall.
In the mid-2000s, the Tulloch family witnessed consolidation taking place within the engineering-design sector, but no such activity on the survey side.
But starting in 2005, the company made a slew of acquisitions of firms in Sault Ste. Marie, Sudbury, Ottawa, Hamilton and Thunder Bay, while opening offices in Elliot Lake and Espanola.
