Ontario residents are reeling from skyrocketing hydro rates and delivery charges as are business operators. Hydro is the second highest operating cost, next to payroll for many business operators. A report released by the Ontario Chamber of Commerce predicts that 1 in 20 businesses may be forced to close their doors permanently over the next 5 years due to high electricity rates.
Algoma-Manitoulin MPP Michael Mantha will be meeting with Loggy Dinelle, owner of Dinelle’s Country Market in Echo Bay and Macdonald, Meredith & Aberdeen Mayor Lynn Watson to discuss the impact hydro rates and delivery charges are having on businesses in communities across Northern Ontario. They will be discussing the devastating impact hydro rates and charges are having on this long time local family grocery store and what this will mean to communities in the area.
The meeting will take place at Dinelle’s Country Market, Hwy 17B in Echo Bay on Saturday October 15th at 1:00 p.m.
