The NHL pre-season game tonight at the Essar Centre between the Carolina Hurricanes and The Buffalo Sabres brought in almost 4,000 locals.
Carolina won in overtime 3-2.
Our very own Soo Thunderbirds were there to help clean the ice during periods.
This is the first time in a very long while that the Sault has hosted an NHL game. Ron Francis’s help with the Hurricanes sure made it an easier decision.
Francis said earlier in a press conference that the game was selected to be played in the Sault so that in turn Buffalo would get to choose next season where to have their pre-season game.
