For the 8th straight year, several homeowners were given a much needed helping hand Saturday morning thanks to the United Way and Sault College student volunteers as part of the Trades Day of Caring.
Providing help to seniors in Sault Ste. Marie with minor household repairs and maintenance – resulting in reduced utility costs. Under the guidance of Sault College instructors, Sault College Trades students were assigned to several different households to perform minor repairs to seniors’ homes, including raking, caulking, and sealing leaky windows and doors.
About 21 homes were registered for the service according to United Way Project Coordinator, Kayla Santoro. That’s about average over the 8 years the program has been running.
