Hockey Canada has named forward Ryan Chyzowski (Kamloops, B.C./Medicine Hat, WHL) to participate as part of Team Canada White at the 2016 World Under-17 Hockey Challenge Oct. 27-Nov. 5.
He will be playing on the team with Barrett Hayton from the Greyhounds.
Chyzowski was drafted 18th overall by the Tigers in the 2015 WHL Bantam Draft, will be the third member of his family to wear the Team Canada crest; his father, Dave, captained Canada to a gold medal at the 1990 IIHF World Junior Championship, while his brother, Nick, won silver with Team Pacific at the 2014 World Under-17 Hockey Challenge.
He replaces Joe Veleno (Kirkland, Que./Saint John, QMJHL) who is unable to participate due to a lower-body injury. Veleno, 16, was a member of Team Canada Black at the 2015 World Under-17 Hockey Challenge, and represented Canada at the 2016 Ivan Hlinka Memorial Cup in August.
