The Walking Dead invades downtown!!

No doubt zombie fans are waiting for the 7th season premiere of the Walking Dead Sunday night, but the real zombies were out in full force Saturday night downtown.

The annual Soo Zombie walk has grown up over the years now attracting hundreds to a full day event.

_dsc7641The Soo Zombie Walk is an annual food drive festival, bringing together over 400 residents of Sault Ste. Marie to collect canned goods for the Soup Kitchen Community Centre and celebrate Halloween.

Attendants dress up in zombie and resistance member costumes and enjoy a variety of pre-walk festivities including face painting, games, contests and music before taking to the streets of downtown Sault Ste. Marie for the Zombie Walk.

Additional entertainment from Greg Callahan and Skyotyk Rampage kept the monsters entertained until the actual walk at 6pm.

At that point, hundreds of zombies walked the downtown area. This was the 8th annual Soo Zombie Walk. The event started as just a short walk and only attracting a handfull of participants when it started in 2008.
